the course was being put forward as a world cup venue for 2010 so knew it was going to be a challenge. After 2 practice laps (including a tyre burp followed by flying over the bars!) i felt i was getting the hang of the course. it was an awesome one with countless drops and roots. i was then greeted by steve with lots of free stuff! as always steve got all the bikes tuned up and cleaned for the race the next day.
after getting kitted up in my snazzy new skin suit and msc gloves (first time i wore them and were so comfy, highly recommend!) i was gridded on the back row due to the previous dnf. my plan was to go fast from the start before the blockage in the single track. however i think everyone had this idea and went into the singletrack in the 20's. after having to run round the big drop due to someone face planting i was getting into my race and starting to pick off the riders. a couple of laps in and was getting towards the top 10 and riding hard to catch up. with no mistakes on the technical parts and some strong climbing i managed to almost catch 6th place to finish in 7th 12 seconds off.
was pretty happy with my result but would have loved another lap as felt like i had a lot left in the tank. my fitness is now coming on well and have been getting on the mountain bike more which is starting to speed me up. the carbon koncept was made for this course and felt amazing on the technical descents and stuck like glue to the steep parts on the climbs. im sure this bike can take me into the top 5 at margham park.
bring it on!!!
p.s the blurry picture just shows my immense speed!!!

Good ride from the back of the grid mate!
