A quick update as the weather is currently far too nice to be inside typing on a computer. This past weekend was the third round of the British Mountain Bike Series and with the sun shining I was looking for a good ride to get my overall position back on track after my pull out at round 2. I was fortunate to be gridded and looking for a good start to make my race simpler. It didn't really happen exactly as I had wished. After getting a good start I made a silly mistake and ended up on the floor putting myself at the back of the field! I tried to remain calm and work my way back up to the front. This was tough because we had now hit some of the tighter sections of the course and the lead riders were long gone. I managed to work myself back up to a position were I could see some familiar faces which allowed me to relax a little bit.

The course was super tough with a lot of climbing which on the day seemed to suit me more than others and I was able to gain a number of places over the first 2 laps. The last 2 laps were very hard, the heat had started to get to me and I was paying for some of my earlier efforts. I kept it as smooth and consistent as possible and manage to finish in 5
th place. A top 5 at a national event was my first goal at the start of the season and with that
accomplished I can now aim for a podium.
Next race for me is Midlands Round 2 and with my improving form I'm hopeful of a podium and pushing the top guys for the win. Fingers crossed I can push on now and I'll keep the blog updated.
