BMBS Rd1

Round 1, the start of the season, a race which can give you confidence or send you scurrying back to the drawing board! I feel I had a good ride and the extra training I have put in seems to be showing. Rd 1 last year saw me consistenetly lose time over the 4 laps and I was dead for the last 1, this year my lap times improved each lap as I moved through the field and cleared the 'traffic'. My 3rd lap was the 6th quickest so I know I can nearly lap as fast as the leaders I just need to get near them at the start. Starting on the 5th row I was always going to be held up but my plan was simple, hammer the first fireroad and then recover in the singletrack, with my newly fitted risers blocking riders from behind was easy! Cheers Steve, all I need now is a Bwarp sound effect and I can be fully moto! So sitting in 11th with 3k to go I blew it, still not quite sure what exactly happened but surfice to say the bike stopped and I didn't, with the rear wheel out of the dropouts and a chewed up chainstay I struggled to get the wheel back in and lost around 8 mins, when I finally got going I was pissed to say the least and stormed by some of the riders who had just passed me, unfortunatly this still left me in 39th thinking what might have been.

My next race is the Southern XC on the 26th, I have promised myself a good result so fingers crossed lady luck does not desert me. All that leaves is to thank the rest of the guys for making our first race weekend together so enjoyable and to Steve for keeping the bikes running sweet. Until next time.
